Lycan training and recognition of the French Ring in the United States

In 2020, I met Spencer Bowman in France, and he subsequently contacted me to train his dog Lycan for the French selectives. Under my guidance, Lycan became the first American dog to compete at these selectives, helping to raise the profile of the French Ring in the United States.

After this great success, I went to the United States with Spencer for a training seminar. I helped him perfect his dressage and biting techniques, a task that paid off as he went on to win the US Championship titles in 2022 and 2023 under my coaching. Now his regular trainer, Spencer has returned to France several times with his new dog Sub-Zéro to continue his progress.

As the American championship approached, I went to California to finalize their preparation. Thanks to intensive, focused training, together we won the national championship title in Ring 1 in Utah, once again confirming the impact of my work on the international scene.

My Selection of Assistant Man: A Successful Challenge

One of the most demanding challenges in my journey was my selection as Attack Man (HA), which I took while I was in the middle of studying for my baccalaureate. At that time, I had to juggle between my studies and my preparation for the selection, reviewing my courses at the hotel. Obtaining my diploma was essential, as I was not yet certain about my future in the dog world.

During the selection, I was the youngest candidate and still early in my training, facing participants with much more experience. The test consisted of three stages:

  • A written exam on the regulations,

  • A physical test with a VMA test and a slalom while wearing a bite suit,

  • A real-life scenario where I had to make two unknown dogs bite, a first-time experience for me.

Despite these challenges, I finished first in the selection with an average score of 16.44/20. The judge congratulated me, and this success helped me gain recognition, opening up new opportunities in my journey.

Competition in the United States with My Own Dog, Ollie

Thanks to my license with the American club Prestige Ring Sport, I was able to participate in a competition in the United States with my own dog, Ollie. The event took place on December 21, 2024, in Vacaville, California.

Building on Spencer’s success with Sub-Zero, we continued intense training to aim for top performances. This hard work paid off, as our team secured the top two spots on the podium :
🏆 1st place: Ollie (my dog)
🥈 2nd place: Sub-Zero (Spencer’s dog)

These results proved to us that discipline and commitment lead to excellence.

Collaboration with Trisha Olson and Victory in Mondioring

During my stay in the United States, I met Trisha Olson, a dog handler from Minnesota.

She reached out to Spencer to train with us and prepare for her Mondioring competition in California.
Mondioring is a discipline similar to French Ring but with more diverse trials, changing scenarios, and a less predictable environment.

My adaptability and understanding of dogs allowed me to support her effectively, regardless of the setting—whether it was French Ring, Mondioring, protection dogs, or pet dog training.

After a week of intensive training, Trisha and her dog V’Gnarly brilliantly secured first place in the California competition.

Training and Exchanges in Mexico

During my stay in Mexico, I had the opportunity to train a variety of dogs, including protection dogs, police dogs, competition dogs, and puppies.

It was a great chance to share my expertise across different areas and adapt my training methods to the specific needs of each group.

I was also fortunate to meet Misael Mercado, a well-known decoy in Mexico and a Level 3 Certified Helper. This meeting was a valuable opportunity to share experiences and exchange best practices in dog training.

In collaboration with Misael, I trained his team through multiple sessions in different locations across Mexico. These sessions allowed me to pass on my knowledge while adapting to new environments and challenges, strengthening the local team’s skills.
